![]() Alcatraz was hands-down our best investigation. From the moment I stepped onto the island, I was shaking. I mean it's a former prison that held Al Capone and some of the worst criminals of the time. Not to mention the fact that we found some CRAZY evidence like orbs, EVPs and that cellblock hotspot. And hearing Al Capone's ghost playing the banjo was just unreal. I really can't imagine going any place scarier. Usually base camp is the safest place to be during an investigation, but not this time. KC and I kept hearing weird noises moving closer and closer. I'm just glad Riley got back when he did. Camp Gilmore is like something out of a horror movie. It's a summer camp in the middle of nowhere, on an ancient Indian burial ground. I get chills just thinking about it. Thanks for this great question, Sarah.
Riley, We go dark on an investigation to help heighten our other senses. It’s already dark out and usually hard to see. By going dark we can hopefully pick up smells, sounds and feelings better. We've been to a lot of spooky places, but when you're in a cemetery—it doesn't get much scarier than that. I mean you're walking on top of dead bodies. I still can't believe I actually climbed into a grave. The catacombs under the Mission Inn run for miles. They were originally built to smuggle alcohol during prohibition. It was so dark down there I was afraid I was going to get lost. I'm really proud of the team because we're all starting to get really good at this. For me personally, I'd like to investigate full time. The only problem is school. Luckily, we're still on summer break. I'm planning to get a lot more cases in before we go back. Here's a really great question we got from Spectral Penelope Glacier in the forum.
Hi, Othersiders Team! How are you all?
Penelope, When something tapped me on the shoulder twice, well that was the scariest thing I've ever experienced. I kid you not. It was a real paranormal experience. I'm a skeptic, but it's impossible to ignore something like that. People sometimes make fun of me for being scared of elevators, but you don't even understand. It's a tight space that you have NO control over. When I was in the warehouse elevator, all I could think about was getting trapped in it. I tried not to lose it and panic. I would NEVER do that again. This didn't make it into the episode, but I had a secondary mission at the Marine Warehouse. I tried to find a skunk that I heard was hiding there. Fortunately, I did not find it. Losing radio contact with base camp at Fort MacArthur was probably one of the most nerve-racking experiences ever. We weren’t that far away, and there was no reason why it would cut out unless there was something supernatural interfering. I'm just glad that I had KC there with me. If I were alone, I REALLY would have freaked out. I just found out we're on at a new time from now on, Wednesdays at 9. Check out our new episode this Wednesday. You're not going to wanna miss Fort MacArthur this week. Trust me. For me, Fort MacArthur was really cool because it was like being at a real army base. The place definitely lived up to its reputation. You're not going to believe what we found. I wish I knew what happened to me in the billiards room, but I don't. I didn’t even notice anything weird until base camp called in to tell me I didn’t look too good. After that I felt really sick. I think I'm more sensitive to the paranormal than the others. That was one location I couldn't wait to get out of. Thanks to everyone who posted questions in the Forum. Here's one that caught my attention. Dear Sam,
Casey, It's always hard to pick haunted or not for a location, especially when you're outnumbered. Riley and I argue tons because we have such different views on the paranormal. But I know he values what I have to say. I still think it was haunted. The Mojave Boneyard is one of the scariest places I've been. We investigated crashed planes in the desert in the middle of the night. As if that wasn't scary enough, I could hear coyotes howling. I never knew if one might attack us! Hey, everybody. I just added this blog to the site so the team and I can post stuff about the cases and talk about what it's like being an Othersider. Not everything we see on an investigation can make it into the show, so we'll post those extra stories here. The thing that really got me on the Queen Mary was when I was in the boiler room with Riley. We heard something whispering our names. I was seriously freaked until I realized it was just KC calling us from the catwalk. Haha! Seeing myself on TV is just SURREAL! It's one of the coolest things ever. Every week, I get calls or texts from friends who have seen the show. I still can't get over it. of Being an Othersider The best part is that I get to do all of these investigations with my friends. Riley is one of my best friends that I've known forever. He's my go-to guy for anything. Jackie is really fun. I'm really glad she's on the team so I'm not the only girl. Zack is like the cutest little brother ever. He tries hard in everything that he does. Sam is super nice and he always has a smile on his face. I couldn't imagine doing this without all of my friends. |
